ACC to probe Tk 445cr irregularities at Shanto-Mariam University

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities amounting to Tk 445 crore involving Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, its Board of Trustees, and other associated parties.
The matter was disclosed by ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain during the commission's regular press briefing today.
According to Hossain, "The university unlawfully transferred Tk 343 crore from its funds to the Shanto-Mariam Foundation, violating university regulations. Additionally, the institution is accused of evading Tk 102 crore in government revenue since its inception."
"The ACC has taken these allegations of financial misconduct and corruption seriously and initiated an inquiry," he said.
Responding to a question on whether the ACC is forming any special task force to monitor irregularities in private universities, Akhtar Hossain said, "No special initiative has been taken. If more such allegations surface, they will also be thoroughly investigated."
