As of today, the number of screenings at Star Cineplex has jumped to 14 per day—an unusual development for a Bangladeshi film post-Eid. The reason is not flashy promotions or star power, but the deeply personal way audiences have embraced it, said Siam Ahmed, ‘Jongli’s lead star in an exclusive interview with The Daily Star.
Veteran actor and National Film Award winner Shahiduzzaman Selim continues to make waves across theatre, TV, cinema, and OTT. This Eid, he pulled off a hat-trick with three of his films—“Borbaad”, “Jongli”, and “Daagi”—hitting theatres simultaneously.
However, now, just a week after the film's release, it has been confirmed that the number of shows at Star Cineplex alone has now doubled.
Actor Sajal, whose movie “Jinn 3” was yet another Eid release, didn’t miss out on the experience either. On Eid day and the days that followed, he visited cinemas to gauge audience reactions. “This tradition of visiting the theatres is truly delightful,” he said. “I’ve joined in, and it feels wonderful.”
The film, which was released this Eid, is being praised by audiences for its compelling storytelling. During the movie’s promotional campaign, one of the producers, Zahid Hasan Abhi—founder and CEO of Tiger Media—revealed to the media that the Malayalam and Telugu industries had shown interest in acquiring the remake rights for “Jongli”.
As the film industry gears up for festival seasons, cinema hall owners eagerly anticipate the most hyped time of the year. This Eid-ul-Fitr, six films hit the silver screen: “Borbaad”, “Daagi”, “Jongli”, “Chokkor 302”, “Jinn 3”, and “Antaratma”.

Tahsan and rising star Atiya Anisha have collaborated on a playback song for the upcoming film, “Jongli”. Titled “Jonmo Jonmo”, the duet has been composed and written by legendary Prince Mahmud, with musical arrangement by Imran Mahmudul.
