Guidance International School: A unique institution for nurturing ideal individuals

Education is considered as the foundation of a nation. Parents think about which educational institution to admit their children into. In Bangladesh, there are many institutions dedicated to providing quality education. One of them is 'Guidance International School'.
Located in Gulshan, Dhaka, this institution has been running educational programs based on the complete British curriculum for the past four years. Currently, the school has over two hundred students. The school's academic activities are managed by thirty-five skilled and experienced teachers and twenty staff members. Abdullah Jaman serves as the head of the institution, while Sayma Rahman and Taslima Samad hold the positions of Head of the Middle School and Head of the Junior school, respectively.
The students will be interested in coming to school if there is a student-friendly environment. Due to this particular feature of Guidance International School, students and parents already perceive its distinct importance. The school completes all the students' studies. Students themselves can accomplish the homework given for practice or revision. Therefore, no student needs to take private tuition.
For 'O' and 'A' level candidates, intensive care is taken alongside regular classes to prepare them for the final exams. As a result, students do not have to run to various coaching centers. Moreover, with the aim of creating competent citizens in the advancing world of technology and meeting future challenges, 'Coding' has already been included in the curriculum, which is a first in Bangladesh.
In addition to moral and modern education, this educational institution provides the opportunity to memorize the Holy Quran. Along with regular schooling, students spend one and a half hours in the morning and one hour after school for Quran memorization. This institution produces numerous Quran memorizers by utilizing the summer vacation during Ramadan and two months of the year. It not only focuses on academics but also incorporates co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
Co curricular Activities:
To promote physical and mental development, students are engaged in sufficient sports activities daily. Besides academic excellence, regular practice is emphasized to shape students into individuals with the highest human values and ethical values in their practical lives. To cultivate patriotism and national consciousness, daily assembly includes Quran recitation, national anthem performance, oath-taking, as well as the observance of various national days such as Ekushey February, March 26, December 16, etc. Students are taken on regular visits to various significant places related to national heritage, zoos, museums, important establishments, etc., to familiarize them with national culture and integrate educational teachings from textbooks with reality.
Competitive Programs:
To make science education more popular and increase students' interest in science, the school organizes a science fair annually. Additionally, internal arrangements are made for science and mathematics olympiads to enhance proficiency in various subjects, and participation in national-level competitions is ensured. Furthermore, talent development is fostered through programs such as debate competitions, Quran memorization competitions, debating competitions, book fairs and cultural festivals.
Opportunities for Higher Education in Islamic Studies:
After passing the 'O' and 'A' levels, students who wish to pursue education in Islamic subjects such as the Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, etc., outside of medical or engineering fields, also have the opportunity to do so. Because a student at the 'O' and 'A' levels can receive education in Islamic studies and Arabic language as additional subjects alongside regular subjects. As a result, students of this school have the opportunity to study at renowned Islamic universities such as Madinah University, Al-Azhar University, Umm Al-Qura University and other prestigious Islamic universities around the world for higher education in the future.
Regarding the current educational program and future planning, the vice principal of the institution, Moumita Islam, said, "We are progressing with a skill-based curriculum, which is different from the traditional textbook-based teaching method. We believe that there is no alternative to skill-based education to meet the demands of the changing world. With that goal in mind, we strive to prepare students through student-centered guidance and activities, fostering critical thinking skills, and decision-making abilities. We believe that education is not limited to academic skills alone. Therefore, our integrated curriculum ensures the development of empathy, tolerance, and mutual respect, enhancing the values of character."
Moumita Islam further stated, "As a progressive educational institution, we aspire to develop our students as global citizens with a fully developed personality. Our desired outcome is that our students, as responsible citizens, will assume leadership roles in various sectors of society and contribute to global humanity through their service."
Guided by the integration of modern and moral education, the aim of Guidance International School is to lead the country forward by fostering an ideal citizenry. The teachers and staff of the institution are working towards achieving this goal.
