Uncertainty over Club Valencia's arrival

Club Valencia's arrival in Bangladesh for the AFC Cup playoff match against six-time Bangladesh Premier League champions Abahani was thrown into uncertainty over financial constraints.
Club Valencia of Maldives were scheduled to land in Bangladesh at 9:45pm last night, but it was learnt that they did not board the flight when this report was filed, confirmed by an official from Bangladesh Football Federation.
"We have communicated with one official of Football Association of Maldives who informed us that Club Valencia are trying to fly out of Male tomorrow [Monday] morning, the delay happening due to financial problem," the BFF official told The Daily Star seeking anonymity.
"As per the itinerary they sent us, the team was supposed to board the flight at 4:45pm today from Male but they did not board when I talked to a Maldives FA official at about 6:45pm," said the BFF executive, hinting that Club Valencia may not come to Bangladesh at all.
Abahani manager Satyajit Das Rupu said, "I have heard unofficially that they are not coming due to financial crisis but there is no official announcement, so we are taking our preparation to play the match."
Club Valencia beat Paro FC of Bhutan 2-1 on April 5 to set up the next match against Abahani on Tuesday in Sylhet. If the Maldivian outfit do not show up, Abahani will advance to the next stage of playoff where they will play the winners of the match between Blue Star of Sri Lanka and ATK Mohun Bagan of India on April 19.
