Bangladesh national team striker Krishna Rani Sarkar made a stunning return to form in the opening match of the Bhutan Women's Football League, scoring twice for her club Transport United. On Monday, her team thrashed U-17 Gelephu Academy 8-0 in a dominant performance.

After struggling with injuries and limited game time during last year's SAFF Women's Championship in Kathmandu, Krishna had been sidelined from competitive matches for over six months. She also missed international friendlies in the UAE due to a players' dispute with head coach Peter Butler. But in Bhutan, she seized the opportunity to prove herself again.

Wearing No 9 jersey, Krishna netted her first goal in the 63rd minute with a powerful left-footed shot after a slick dribble past two defenders. Her second came in the 78th minute, capitalising on a rebound from the goalkeeper to calmly slot the ball into the net. However, the Bangladeshi striker also missed a few scoring chances in the lopsided fixture.

This year, 10 Bangladeshi players are participating in the Bhutan Women's League. Krishna is joined at Transport United by defender Masura Parveen and goalkeeper Rupna Chakma. Other Bangladeshi stars like Sabina Khatun, Maria Manda, and Sanjida Akter are also representing different Bhutanese clubs.

Krishna's next match is scheduled for June 7 against Ugyen Academy FC.
