Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB's) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) launched an investigation on allegations of irregularities in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match between Gulshan Cricket Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club and summoned the two Shinepukur batters whose manner of dismissals caused the furor today.

Rahim Ahmed and Minhajul Abedin were summoned to the BCB Academy Ground in Mirpur as cameras were set up on both sides of the wicket and the officials tried to recreate the scene of the dismissals with the two cricketers.

Interestingly, the entire process took place in front of the media whereas usually match-fixing investigations are done away from the public eyes.

With the DPL previously having been tainted by such incidents, it gave rise to speculations that the procedures, which could have easily been done somewhere where the media wasn't present, were done out in the open to create a sense that something is being done.

BCB also issued a press release today where it declared, "The board has a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of corruption or misconduct that may compromise the spirit of the sport.

"The BCB Anti-Corruption Unit and the League's Technical Committee have promptly initiated an investigation into the alleged irregularities associated with the match," it read.

When CCDM officials were asked about the developments and the less than confidential nature of the proceedings, one said: "ACU is conducting their investigations their own way. We can't interfere and ask them why they are doing things this way. What we need are results which they will provide.

"But we have told them that our view on the matter is the same as everyone else's who has seen the footages," the CCDM official added.

BCB officials have also said that not only the two players but also everyone involved with irregularities will be under the jurisdiction of the investigation.

When this newspaper had reached out to the match referee after the Shinepukur-Gulshan game on Wednesday, he had said that the batter might have lost his balance and failed to get inside the crease in time.

It remains to be seen how the investigation into alleged irregularities in DPL are handled in the coming days.
