Tait, Mushtaq join Tigers in Lahore

Newly-appointed pace bowling coach Shaun Tait and spin coach Mushtaq Ahmed have joined the Bangladesh team in Lahore ahead of their three-match T20I series against the hosts, scheduled to start on May 28.

Team manager Nafees Iqbal confirmed the development to The Daily Star on Monday, adding that they will complete two training sessions today and tomorrow (Tuesday) ahead of their opening match at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.

Tait worked as the pace bowling coach of Karachi Kings in the recently-concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) while Mushtaq was the bowling coach of Peshawar Zalmi in the same tournament.

Earlier on May 12, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced Tait's appointment as the fast bowling coach of the national team till November 2027.

Meanwhile, the BCB also renewed its contract with Mushtaq after the previous contract expired after the ICC Champions Trophy in February-March. According to the new two-year contract, he will work at the BCB for 130 days per year.

Meanwhile, pacer Khaled Ahmed, who replaced injured pacer Mustafizur Rahman in the Pakistan series, will join the squad in Lahore tonight.

"Khaled went to England for a family holiday with his wife. He will join the side in Lahore tonight," BCB's cricket operations chairman Shahriar Nafees told The Daily Star.

Earlier on Sunday, the BCB in a press release confirmed Mustafizur was ruled out of the Pakistan series after sustaining a clip fracture of his left thumb during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match on May 24, which will keep him out of action for at least two weeks. The left-arm pacer also returned home from India today.
