Despite Zimbabwe Cricket [ZC] putting on hold all cricketing activities in the nation as part of their COVID-19 lockdown restrictions last week, the Zimbabwe cricket board today confirmed through a press release that they will be hosting Bangladesh for a full series featuring one Test, three ODIs and as many T20Is in July. 

"The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has granted Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) permission to host Bangladesh in July for a three-match one-day international (ODI) series that forms part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. The tour also includes one Test match and three Twenty20 international (T20I) games," read the press release. 

Bangladesh national cricket team are scheduled to fly to Zimbabwe on June 29 for a full series featuring one Test on July 7 followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is. 

The first of the three ODIs will be played on July 16 while the T20 series will begin on July 23. All the matches are scheduled to be held in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe.

However, the fate of the series was thrown into jeopardy when ZC had put on hold all cricketing activities on June 14 as part of their COVID-19 restrictions. 

"All the matches between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will be played behind closed doors at Harare Sports Club, with no spectators allowed in the ground as part of the pandemic protocols that ZC has put in place at its facilities," added the press release.

Earlier, after Zimbabwe's decision to suspend all sporting activities as part of their COVID-19 restrictions, ZC had lodged an urgent appeal to their Government, through the Sports and Recreation Commission, for permission to continue with preparations for their upcoming international tours that they had already committed to.
