Former president Shahabuddin Ahmed, escorted by security men, takes his morning walk in Gulshan Lake Park. A few months ago he used to walk in Gulshan Park which last September Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) renamed as Rastrapati Bicharpati Shahabuddin Ahmed Park (inset) in his honour. Since then Shahabuddin has been taking his walks in Lake Park. Asked why the park was named after Shahabuddin Ahmed, DCC Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka said, "He played an important role in the revival of democracy after 1990.
