Dhaka has been ranked second among the cities with the largest number of active Facebook users.

The number of active FB users in Dhaka is 2.2 crore, which is 1.1 percent of the total active users of the social networking site, says a report, titled “Digital in 2017 Global Overview”, prepared jointly by We Are Social and Hootsuite.

The estimated number of people in the city is 1.5 crore.

With 3 crore active users, Bangkok topped the list of 10 cities with largest number of active FB users. Jakarta came in third position with 2.2 crore while Mexico City fourth with 1.7 crore active users.

The US topped the list of the countries with the largest number of the users. It has 21.9 crore active FB users, which is 11 percent of the total users, says the report published on April 11.

The country is followed by India with 21.3 crore and Brazil with 12.3 crore active FB users.

As per the earlier report published in January, Dhaka ranked third among the cities with largest number of the users, after Bangkok and Mexico City.

The new report also says more than half of the world's population now uses the Internet. The world population was seven billion in 2011, according to the United Nations.
