Country's 'biggest' launch being added to fleet

Sundarban Navigation Company (SNC) is going to launch the country's biggest, luxury passenger vessel "Sundarban-10" on Dhaka-Barisal route on Saturday ahead of Eid festival.
With this, 16 private-run passenger-carriers have been added to this route.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu will inaugurate the launch of the four-storey vessel at Dhaka River Port. It will be able to carry 1,300 passengers in its total 16 thousand sq feet space with 300 feet length and 50 feet width. Two of its engines were imported from Germany. This is a luxurious vessel with medical services including coronary care unit (CCU), food court, and VIP-duplex business class cabin with many facilities, said SNC Director Saidur Rahaman Rintu.
Majbur Rahaman, chief master of the launch, said radar, global positioning system (GPS) and electro hydraulic system…would be used in the vessel.
This is the country's biggest passenger launch with radar-ecosystem, and CCU and lift facilities, according to Sahidul Islam, assistant director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and acting port officer of Barisal River Port.
The vessel will also be able to sail amid heavy fog, said a launch passenger, Nurul Alam Farid, who was expecting that it would see a huge passenger crowd during the Eid.
