Waterlogging in Ctg a 'man-made' problem: Adviser Fouzul

Road, Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today said waterlogging in the port city is a completely man-made problem.
Fouzul, also the energy adviser, said this while inspecting the progress of excavation and cleanliness activities of a canal with the support of Chattogram city unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami yesterday.
"The previous city mayors and CDA chairmen are responsible for creating this waterlogging," adding, "I studied in primary, high school and Chittagong College in this city but I have never seen such waterlogging at that time."
Mentioning that the canal was occupied and turned into houses, offices and markets, the adviser said, "After taking charge, I demolished these and am now working to turn them into canals again... I want to work together with everyone."
Waterlogging in Chattogram is a man-made problem, he said, adding, "We are trying to address this problem. Although this problem may not be completely solved this year, we are trying to ensure that it does not become a long-term problem."
He said, "Now it is the citizens' turn, they are responsible for keeping the canals clean."
Shahadat Hossain, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) and Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Working Committee member Shahjahan Chowdhury also spoke at the event.
