Rohingya leader stabbed to death in Cox’s Bazar

A head majhi (community leader) of the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Noor, 30. The incident occurred around 10:00pm at Camp No. 20 in Ukhiya.

Officer-in-Charge Arif Hossain of Ukhiya Police Station confirmed the matter, saying that Noor was attacked by six to seven assailants with sharp weapons as he left a mosque after Taraweeh prayers.

The attackers fled the scene, and their identities remain unknown.

The body has been sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.
