One killed in Durgapur road accident

A man was killed today after his motorcyle hit a brick-laden truck in Durgapur upazila of Netrokona.

The deceased has been identified as Anwar Hossain, 25, from Bausam village of Kalmakanda upazila.

The accident occurred around 5:30pm in the Thakurbari Kanda area near the Bhanga Bridge in the municipal town, confirmed Durgapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudul Hasan.According to the OC, when Anwar attempted to overtake the truck on his motorcycle he collided with it and fell, dying on the spot.

OC Mahmudul Hasan said, "The truck involved in the accident has been seized, but the driver managed to flee. Preparations are underway to send the body for an autopsy."

"Legal action will follow if a case is filed," he added.
