July Oikya today called for the cancellation of party registration and a complete ban on the 14-party alliance and the Jatiya Party, accusing them of being accomplices in the Awami League regime.

"These political forces cannot be exempted from accountability. We demand the immediate cancellation of their registration, a formal ban, and the initiation of trial proceedings against them," said Musaddiq Ali Ibne Mohammad, one of the organisers of the platform, while reading out a written statement at a press conference held at Dhaka University's Madhur Canteen.

Citing unfulfilled promises made by the interim government, the platform demanded the official declaration of the "July Revolution Manifesto" within 30 working days.

"Otherwise, we will move forward with tougher programmes alongside students and citizens to realise our demands," the statement warned.

July Oikya also called for the permanent ban of the Awami League as a political party, along with the cancellation of its registration.

The platform demanded a prohibition on all political, social, and cultural affiliate bodies of the Awami League.

"To be clear, the people's core demand was the complete ban of Awami League and the cancellation of its registration. A temporary suspension does not reflect the full implementation of that demand," read the statement.

The platform also demanded an end to "fascist control" over the media and cultural sectors.

It also urged for the inclusion of the "July Revolution" in the national curriculum and for state and private broadcasters to air documentaries on the uprising daily.

Among other demands were the swift trial of mass killings and crimes committed over the past 16 years, and the immediate investigation and prosecution of killings during the 2021 anti-Modi protests.

As part of its next phase of action, July Oikya announced it would release a list of alleged conspirators within the Secretariat, complete with evidence, and submit the list to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and the public administration secretary.
