Ferry service on Chandraghona-Raikhali route to stay closed until May 17

Ferry movement on the Chandraghona-Raikhali route in Rangamati will be closed for five days — from May 13 to May 17 — due to dredging work.
In a media notice, the Department of Roads and Highways said that ferry services under the Rangamati Road Department's Ghagara section, along the Chandraghona-Bangalhalia-Bandarban route, would remain suspended from 6:00pm today until 5:00pm on Saturday.
The ferry service is expected to resume at 6:00am on Sunday, May 18, it said.
The notice, signed by Rangamati Road Department Executive Engineer Sabuj Chakma, advised commuters to use the Rangunia–Bangalhalia (Sukhbilash) road as an alternative route during this period, adding that delays may occur due to the nature of the dredging work.
Confirming the development, Executive Engineer Sabuj Chakma said, "Ferry movement has been disrupted repeatedly due to sediment build-up. We have taken this dredging initiative to ensure smoother ferry crossing."
