Clash in Rajshahi Nursing College leaves 10 injured

At least 10 were injured today during a clash at Rajshahi Nursing College between diploma in nursing students who are currently working at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, and students of BSc Nursing, according to police.

"The altercation broke out around 12:30pm today during a discussion held at the college auditorium, where the both groups had some internal issues," confirmed Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (Boalia Zone) Hafizur Rahman.

Citing witnesses, police said that tensions flared when some diploma students made inappropriate remarks towards BSc students.

Later, the diploma students took position in front of the college gate, while BSc students locked themselves inside.

"Despite our presence, the situation intensified when a diploma student attempted to snatch a female BSc student's phone, leading to vandalism of the college gate and an exchange of brickbats between the two sides," said ADC Hafizur Rahman.

However, senior officials from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital later visited the site to help defuse the situation, and additional police personnel were deployed to maintain order.

The injured students are currently receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, police confirmed.
