Bank official allegedly assaulted by JCD leader in Feni

A leader of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) allegedly assaulted a bank official after failing to get the requested amount of money from a bank branch in Feni.
Witnesses said Riyad ul Karim, vice president of Feni district Chhatra Dal, went to the Global Islami Bank branch on Academy Road in Feni town to withdraw money from his fixed deposit receipt (FDR) yesterday afternoon.
When the bank authorities could not provide the money on time, Riyad verbally abused and physically assaulted Junior Officer Omar Faruk, witnesses said.
Omar Faruk said, "I had promised Riyad that I would provide him the money quickly and had him sign the necessary documents. However, he became agitated and used offensive language before punching me on the nose, causing me to bleed."
In response to the allegations, Riyad ul Karim said, "I've been trying to withdraw the money for months, but the bank authorities kept delaying it with various excuses. Today, when they again failed to provide the money, there was some heated argument, but the claim of physical assault is false."
Kausar Ahmed Chowdhury, Manager of the Global Islami Bank Feni branch, said, "There have been some ongoing issues at the bank but we are working to disburse customers' money. On Monday, we provided Riyad ul Karim with money from his savings account, and we assured him that the Tk 9 lakh from his FDR would be paid soon. However, he was not satisfied and assaulted the bank officer. We will take legal action."
Shamsuzzaman, dfficer-in-charge (OC) of Feni Model Police Station, they are aware of the incident and will take action once a formal written complaint is filed.
