The advisory council is currently holding an emergency meeting amid an ongoing movement demanding a ban on Awami League by the NCP and other political and student organisations.

Sources from the Chief Adviser's Office confirmed to The Daily Star that the meeting was underway at the state guest house Jamuna.

The meeting started at 8:30pm, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. It will focus on proposed amendments to the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, a senior official confirmed, reports UNB.

"As far as I know, there are no other issues. The meeting will solely discuss the draft amendments to the ICT Act," a senior official of the interim government told UNB.

The two other demands of NCP are an amendment to the International Crimes Tribunal Act to facilitate the trial of the Awami League, and the official announcement of the July Proclamation.

This protest started on Thursday night in front of official residence of Chief Adviser Prof Muhmmad Yunus. They moved to Shahbagh intersection yesterday and was holding a blockade programme there.
