Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser (South) of the NCP, today warned of a march to Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus' official residence Jamuna unless the advisory council delivers a clear decision on banning the Awami League by tonight.

"We will move forward from Shahbagh at 8:30pm and take position at the intersection near Hotel Intercontinental," Hasnat said during the party's sit-in programme at Shahbagh.

Following his ultimatum, the rally began moving from Shahbagh around 9:00pm, as no official statement was issued.

The procession is currently stationed at the intersection in front of Hotel InterContinental, where police have erected barricades blocking the road leading to Minto Road and Jamuna.

"I want to make it clear to the advisers -- do not delay on the question of banning the Awami League. We still trust you. Resolve the issue of the Awami League immediately," he said earlier.

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has been demanding a ban on AL, de-registration of the party, and a ban on its associate organisations, accusing the party of widespread criminal and political misconduct.

They began a sit-in in front of the state guest house Jamuna Thursday, which has drawn other student and political organisations and led to traffic disruptions in the capital.
