Two killed in Rangpur road accident

Two people, one motorcycle rider and one passenger, were killed after being hit by a bus on the Rangpur-Kurigram road in Rangpur's Kaunia upazila last night.

The deceased were Belal Hossain, 35, of Chandrakhana Masterpara and Sanjay Kumar Roy, 27, of Khamartari of ​​​​Phulbari upazila in Kurigram.

The two died on the spot when a Dhaka-bound bus of Shah Ali Paribahan collided with their bike around 11:00pm, said Kaunia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Latif Shah.

Suman Kumar Roy, uncle of the deceased Sanjay, said that his nephew and Belal were returning home from Rangpur on the motorcycle.

When they reached the Barail Bridge area, the bus hit their motorcycle, leaving the two dead, he added.

Their family members rushed to the police station last night after receiving information from the police. The police seized the bus, but its driver fled.

The bodies were handed over to their families. A case was filed under the Road Transport Act.
