Two children drown in pond

Two children drowned after falling into an abandoned pond in Madhyam Bhumirkhil village of Chattogram's Rangunia upazila on Saturday evening.

The deceased were identified as Anas, 7, son of Mohammad Ilyas, and his cousin Yasin Arafat, 5, son of Md Forkan.

Local UP member Md Didarul Alam confirmed the incident.

He said the children went missing around 4:30pm. After searching for them, locals and family members found the bodies floating on the abandoned pond. They recovered the bodies around 8:45pm. 

The children were declared dead at a local hospital.
