Driver killed as brick-laden trolley overturns in Narsingdi

The driver of a brick-laden trolley was killed and a worker injured after the vehicle overturned on a road in Narsingdi's Monohardi upazila today.

The deceased was identified as Rubel Mia, son of Abdus Sobhan of Rudradi village in Kachikata union of the same upazila, said Md Abdul Jabbar, officer-in-charge of Monohordi Police Station.

According to locals, the Monohardi Bazar-bound trolley loaded with bricks overturned in front of Chandarbari Islamia Kamil Madrasa on the Monohardi Bazar-Hospital Road around 7:30am after its driver, Rubel, lost control of the vehicle.

Rubel was crushed under the trolley engine and died on the spot.

Three workers, who were also on the trolley, jumped off but one of them, Hridoy, sustained injuries. He is currently undergoing treatment at Monohardi Upazila Health Complex.

On information, police and fire service personnel recovered Rubel's body.

OC Abdul Jabbar also said, "We have recovered the body and kept it at our police station. Further action will be taken once his family arrives."
