Two penalty goals either side of the break helped Brothers Union finish third in the Citycell Super Cup yesterday with a come-from behind 3-1 win against Chittagong Mohammedan.
Chittagong Mohammedan went ahead before the third-place playoff was 30 seconds old when Guinean forward Raphael Sagno picked up a long pass and made most of the misunderstanding between rival defender Ariful and goalkeeper Shakil to slot a low drive into the far corner.
Brothers equalised in the tenth minute when Ghanaian forward Henry Quaye scored from the spot after Khan Sharif had felled Tapu inside the area.
The visitors wasted a great chance to regain lead in the 57th minute when Raphael drove a spotkick against the base of Brothers' right post after Arup's foul on Jitu in the penalty box.
Four minutes later, brothers were awarded their second penalty when Khan Sharif brought down Shakil Ahmed inside the area. Substitute midfielder Liton scored in his first attempt but referee Azad Rahman ordered a rekick and Liton was successful again to put the Oranges ahead.
Wasim Iqbal's side sealed the victory and the Tk seven-lakh prize money ten minutes form time when Tapu broke down the right, turned on a defender and fired a low left-footer into Mamun Khan's near post.
Matiur Munna failed to widen the margin when the Brothers midfielder and the national captain headed wide from close while Raphael fluffed two chances towards the end.
Chittagong Mohammedan received Tk six lakh as prize money.
