Create more opportunities thru’ quality edn
UGC Chairman Prof Nazrul Islam speaks at a freshers’ reception of Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology in the city on Monday.
More opportunities should be created through qualitative development of education, University Grants Commission Chairman Prof Nazrul Islam said yesterday.
He was speaking at a freshers' reception of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), founded by Dhaka Ahsania Mission, as the chief guest at its new campus at Tejgaon in the city on Monday, says a press release.
Prof Nazrul added that government universities have one lakh students while private universities have 80000 and open and national universities have 10 lakh students.
Presided over by Prof Dr M Anwar Hossain, vice chancellor of AUST, the programme was also attended by Prof Dr AMM Safiullah, vice chancellor, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), who was present as a special guest.
Dr M Shahabuddin, director, Student Welfare, delivered the address of welcome while Prof Dr MA Muktadir, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Prof Dr SM Kabir, Dean of Business and Social Science, Professor Dr AM Shadullah, Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Professor Dr Kazi Shariful Alam, Treasurer of AUST, also spoke.
Prof Dr AMM Safiullah said that if a doctor commits a mistake, a patient dies but if an engineer commits a mistake, many people might face casualties. So students should develop themselves with a creative outlook.
