Additional Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has taken charge as Director General (DG) of Rab today.

He becomes the eighth DG of the special force, succeeding Benazir Ahmed, who was recently appointed the Inspector General of Bangladesh Police.

Mamun was promoted to the rank of additional IGP in May last year and had been serving as the chief of the Criminal Investigation Department since August 28 that year.

The newly-appointed RAB DG joined Bangladesh Police as an assistant superintendent of police in 1989.

He has served as superintendent of Police in Nilphamari district, deputy commissioner in Dhaka Metropolitan Police and as Deputy Inspector General in Mymensingh and Dhaka Range and Police Headquarters.
