Introduce modern and specialised trades in technical training centres: Expatriate welfare minister

Expatriates' Welfare Minister Imran Ahmad today said the government is planning to introduce modern and specialised trades in the country's technical training centres for creating and sending more skilled workers abroad.
He said a specialised bio-medical engineering and technology institute is already under construction in Manikganj's Shingair.
The minister made the remarks while addressing an online seminar on "Skills and Awareness for Overseas Employment", said a press release of the ministry.
Ahmad said the country's remittance inflow will remain high if more skilled workers with proper training can be sent abroad.
Addressing the event as the chief guest, the minister said the government has also taken the initiative to send more people from the districts which have traditionally seen less workers migrating to foreign countries for jobs.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said remittance was one of the key drivers of the country's economy and also a vital source of foreign reserve.
He stressed the need for introducing modern trades in the technical training centres.
Expatriates' Welfare Ministry Secretary Ahmed Munirus Saleheen said ensuring proper migration requires collective effort and there is no alternative to mass awareness for this.
