Indian police have arrested nine Bangladeshis in West Bengal and Meghalaya on charges of entering India illegally.

Seven people, including four Bangladeshis, were arrested as a trafficking racket that operated at the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya was busted, PTI reported today quoting officials.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the BSF apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals near Dawki on Sunday evening along with three Indian touts, they said.

The four Bangladeshi nationals were attempting to cross into India illegally when they were intercepted by the BSF troops, they said.

In West Bengal, five Bangladeshis were arrested today from South 24 Parganas district for allegedly entering India illegally, hiding their identities and working at a local cloth mill, police said.

The accused were staying together in a rented accommodation at Sonarpur and used allegedly fake documents to bag jobs, a senior police officer said.

"These five persons illegally entered India about a year ago. They concealed their identities and were working at a cloth mill," police said.
