Show for ‘Jongli’ triples since initial release

Even three weeks after Eid, the festive spirit continues to linger, thanks to the Eid special films still drawing audiences. Though it initially had fewer screenings at multiplexes, the demand for Siam Ahmed-led "Jongli" has steadily risen. In its third week, the number of shows has increased further—almost tripling compared to its opening week.
Since its release, "Jongli", directed by M Raahim, has been steadily gaining popularity. Every screening was house-full. Due to the limited number of shows, many fans were left disappointed after failing to get tickets. To meet the audience demand, Star Cineplex doubled the number of screenings for the film in the second week. By the third week, the number of screenings has increased yet again.
From today (18 April), there will be a total of 21 daily screenings of the film across all Star Cineplex branches. In addition, Jamuna Blockbuster will host four shows, and Lion Cinemas three, bringing the total number of multiplex screenings to 28.
Initially, the film had only 11 shows. On the other hand, "Jongli" is now also playing in the highest number of single-screen theatres after "Borbaad", starting today.
Meanwhile, in its third week, Shakib Khan's "Borbaad" is being shown 35 times across multiplexes and is still running in over a hundred single-screen theatres.
One of Eid's most talked-about films, "Daagi", although performing well at multiplexes, hasn't found much success in single-screen venues. According to its production company, it is currently being shown in only four single-screen theatres.
Amid high domestic demand, "Jongli" is set to be released internationally on April 25.
"Jongli" stars Siam Ahmed alongside Shobnom Bubly, Prarthana Fardin Dighi, and child actor Nairita, among others.
