Prangonemor to bring back 'Shesher Kobita' for Baishakhi celebrations

Popular theatre troupe Prangonemor is set to reintroduce its acclaimed production, an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's "Shesher Kobita", with a fresh perspective for the upcoming Chaitra Sankranti and Pahela Baishakh festivities.
The play will be staged on April 13 at 7pm, marking Chaitra Sankranti, and again on April 14 at 7pm for Pahela Baishakh, at the Dr Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samiti.
Adapted from Rabindranath Tagore's celebrated novel, "Shesher Kobita" has been dramatised by Ananta Hira and directed by Nuna Afroz. The production delves into the nuanced romance between Amit Roy and Labanya Debi, whose chance encounter in Shillong evolves into a profound exploration of love and self-discovery. The play also features pivotal characters such as Shobhonlal and Ketaki, adding depth to the narrative.

The cast includes Ananta Hira as Amit Roy, Nuna Afroz as Labanya Debi, with supporting performances by Yusuf Russell, Sahid Sardar, Gulshan Bahnni, Nasreen Mishu, Bandhan Sarkar, Toma Hossain, Shimanto Amin, Tanvi Islam Misti, Fahim Muntasir, Nayeem Hasan, and Farju Farhan.
The production team comprises Faiz Zahir on set design, lighting by Thandu Raihan and Taufique Azim, music direction by Ramij Raju, costumes by Nuna Afroz, choreography by Ivan Shahriar Sohag, and makeup by Johnny Sen.
Prangonemor, established in 2003, has consistently dedicated itself to presenting Tagore's works with artistic excellence both at home and abroad. "Shesher Kobita" stands as the troupe's sixth production, embodying their commitment to bringing timeless literary pieces to the stage.
