On March 4, the "China-Bangladesh Culture & Art Night" took place at the National Theater Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). The program was organized by the Embassy of China in Bangladesh and presented by Kunming National Song amd Dance Theater, with the support of BSA.

His Excellency (H.E.) Yao Wen, Ambassador of China to Bangladesh; H.E. Md Abul Monsur, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh; H.E. Shabbir Ahmad Chowdhury, Secretary (West) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh and Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General of BSA addressed the event.

In total, 500 people were in attendance at the event for a night of festivities.

In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Yao emphasised the significance of this event as the very first non-virtual art performance presented by Chinese art troupes in Bangladesh since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. He also noted that the future of China-Bangladesh relations lies in deepening understanding and recognition of each other's cultures.

H.E. Md Abul Monsur, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh, addressed the event as the Chief Guest. He said that the historical linkage between China and Bangladesh traces back to the visit of Xuan Zang, the Chinese Buddhist monk, to this part of the world in the seventh century. Since then, commercial and cultural exchanges have flourished between China and Bangladesh. Cultural exchanges play a crucial role in cementing the bond of friendship.

Last year, the two countries signed the MoU on the 2023-2027 Culture and Tourism Exchange Programme, which sets up a framework for cooperation in the relevant fields.

Artistes from Kunming National Song and Dance Theatre presented fantastic performances of music and dance, which epitomised the beautiful landscape and folk lives of ethnic groups in the Yunnan Province of China.

Similarly, artistes from BSA also showcased the national performance art of the country in various forms.

Stunned by the extraordinary performance by artistes from both countries, the audience could not help but bring their hands together all throughout the evening.

At the end of the event, H.E. Yao Wen, together with the Chief Guests, took group photos with all the artistes.
