M Abdur Rahim, a former lawmaker from Dinajpur, was remembered on his third death anniversary today.

Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury, speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, has visited the grave of late Abdur Rahim at Jalalpur village in Dinajpur Sadar and offered munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.

She later attended as the chief guest at a programme commemorating the former lawmaker’s death anniversary at Dinajpur Gor-e- Shaheed Boro Maidan in the district town.

Sons of Abdur Rahim -- M Enayetur Rahim, a judge of the High Court division, and M Iqbalur Rahim, lawmaker of Dinajpur-3 constituency and Whip of the JS; Mozammel Haque Babu, chief executive of Ekattor Television; Noim Nizam, editor of Bangla daily Bangladesh Protidin were present at the programme organised by M Abdur Rahim Samajkalyan O Muktijuddho Gobesona Kendra.

M Abdur Rahim was awarded posthumous Swadhinata Padak in 2018.

He passed away on September 4, 2016 due to old age complications. He was elected as MP in 1991.
