The Railway Authorities demolished around 500 illegal structures on both sides of Bogra Railway Station yesterday.

The structures, erected on railway land, had been hampering smooth movement of trains and safety of the commuters.

Railway estate department sources said Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB) and Government Railway Police (GRP) led by railway officials destroyed the illegal structures.

Contacted, Railway Divisional Estate Officer of Lalmonirhat Md Ohiduzzaman said the drive will continue and none will be allowed to grab railway land.

Seeking anonymity, a railway official said the cable of a signal light had been cut by the grabbers. Passengers of two trains narrowly escaped death yesterday as two trains were moving on the same line because of the missing signal.
