A grave milestone: Covid-19 infections cross 1 lakh mark

38 die, 3,803 infected, 1,975 recover in 24 hours

Three thousand eight hundred and three people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The latest figures take the total number of infections in the country to 1,02,292 -- crossing a grave milestone.

Thirty-eight people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.

The death toll now stands at 1,343 and the death rate at 1.31 percent, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, said during a briefing.

A total of 16,259 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.

Meanwhile, 1,975 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours. The total number of recoveries has reached 40,164 and the current recovery rate is 39.26 percent, the DGHS official added.

A total of 674 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.

Among the deceased, 31 were male and seven female, she said adding that 14 were from Dhaka, 18 from Chattogram, one from Rajshahi, two from Khulna, one from Barishal, one from Mymensingh and another was from Rangpur division.

Of them, one was under 10 years old, two were between 21-30 years old, five between 31-40, three within 41-50, six within 51-60, 14 between 61-70, five between 71-80 and the other two were between 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
