Dr Khitish Chandra Mondal, former state minister for disaster management and relief, passed away at his Uttarpara house in Shikarpur of Pirojpur yesterday, aged 84.

He left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of well-wishers.

Khitish was the state minister during Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman-led government. He was also a Liberation War organiser.

He was given state honour and cremated at Pirojpur municipality.

He was born on October 13, 1939 in Babla village of Nazirpur upazila.
