The by-election to Magura-1 constituency comprising of Sreepur and a part of the Sadar upazila will be held today.

The voting will be going on between 8:00am and 4:00pm without any break.

Four candidates -- from the ruling Awami League, National People's Party, Bangladesh Nationalist Front and an independent contender -- are contesting the election.

A total of 324,055 voters are likely to cast their ballots in 140 polling stations.

The constituency fell vacant following the death of Dr Muhammad Serajul Akbar on March 9.
