A Canadian delegation met foreign secretary on the first day of its two-day visit to assess the security situation in the city in the aftermath of the Holey Artisan cafe attack.

The delegation led by David Drake, international security and intelligence director general of Canadian foreign office, arrived in Dhaka early today.

Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Benoit-Pierre Laramee accompanied the delegation during the meeting with Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque at his office this afternoon.

However, the delegation did not brief to the media after the meeting. 

David Drake is also likely to call on the security adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina this afternoon as well. He is scheduled to depart on Friday. 

On July 1, Dhaka witnessed one of the worst terror attacks in its history as gunmen attacked Holey Artisan Bakery, an upscale eatery on Road 79 of Gulshan, killing 20 people after a 12-hour long hostage situation.
