Administrative building of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute locked for 7 days

Students of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute locked its administrative building for the seventh consecutive day today as they have been continuing the protest to press home their six-point demand.
A protester, Md Salman Ahmed Tushar, said that they will continue their protest until the demands are met.
He said, "The administrative buildings have been locked in all the polytechnic institutes across Rajshahi."
According to the protesters, students of all polytechnic institutes in Rajshahi have been staging the demonstration as part of the protest programme.
Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute's Principal Md Abu Hanif said that they are unable to perform any official tasks since all administrative and academic activities have remained suspended.
Apart from Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute, Rajshahi Mohila Polytechnic Institute and Government Survey Institute have also been locked by the protesting students.

Earlier on April 16, students from different polytechnic institutes staged demonstration throughout the country. The protests continued the next day. Although the intensity of demonstrations slightly eased afterward, students continued to hold rallies and gatherings. Later on April 21, they escalated their movement by locking the administrative buildings.
Their six-point demand includes the transfer of "controversial craft instructors" recruited after 2021, ensuring four years of education in the diploma engineering course, and making each semester a full term of six months.
They also demanded that no one other than diploma engineers be allowed to apply for the post of deputy assistant engineer (10th grade), and that the post of deputy assistant engineer and other equivalent positions be reserved exclusively for diploma engineers.
Additionally, the students demanded strict legal actions against teachers and officials accused of harassing or expelling students from institutions.
