Stocks extend gains for third day

Stocks gained in the first hour of trading today, marking a rise for the third consecutive session, as investors were upbeat about a 90-day pause in fresh US tariffs for most countries.
The market had ended lower last week as investors reacted cautiously to the imposition of "reciprocal tariffs" by the United States, dampening sentiment in the first trading week after the Eid vacation.
As of 11:08 am, the DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, rose 3.08 points, or 0.05 percent, to 5,208.31.
Of the traded securities, 141 advanced, 141 declined, and 102 remained unchanged.
Turnover stood at Tk 122.17 crore during the period.
Wata Chemicals was the top gainer, surging 9 percent, while shares of Prime Bank dropped 10 percent.
The CSE All Share Price Index edged up 12.93 points, or 0.08 percent, to 14,522.30.
