Midland Bank closed slightly higher on its trading debut at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today although the market ended in the red.

 

Midland Bank closed slightly higher on its trading debut at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today although the market ended in the red.

The newly listed private bank saw its share price fall to Tk 9 at the opening of the trading hour. It ended up 2 per cent to Tk 10.20 at the close on the main bourse of Bangladesh.

As such, the bank topped the chart of gainers. The face value of the Midland Bank share is Tk 10.

The bank raised Tk 70 crore by issuing seven crore ordinary shares through an initial public offering.

Thanks to the gain, Midland Bank became one of the 28 listed scrips on the DSE whose prices advanced, while the shares of 72 companies declined.

Overall, the DSEX, the benchmark index, shed 11.38 points, or 0.18 per cent, to end the day at 6,203.92.
