Zead Al Malum, a senior prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), died tonight. He was 67.

"He (Malum) breathed his last around 12:00am tonight at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka when his life support was withdrawn," Mehdi Maswood, senior consultant of ICT told The Daily Star.

He was admitted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Dhaka on May 25 after a cardiac arrest and was on life support there.

Later, he was shifted to CMH.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Law Minister Anisul Huq and Attorney General AM Amin Uddin expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Zead Al Malum.

In separate condolence messages, they also prayed for the eternal peace and salvation of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to his bereaved family members.
