Shahnaz Rahmatullah honoured at SCMA

The Symphony-Channel i Music Awards honoured eminent singer Shahnaz Rahmatullah with the Lifetime Achievement Award on Thursday, in a grand programme celebrating the best of Bangladeshi music. The 11th edition of the awards also honoured artistes, lyricists and composers in 17 categories.
Channel i MD Faridur Reza Sagor, Edison Group MD Zakaria Shahid, Channel i governing body member Zahiruddin Mahmud Mamun, legendary actor Razzak and eminent singer Syed Abdul Hadi presented Shahnaz Rahmatullah with a crest, uttario and a cheque.
A number of artistes and bands performed on the night, with the who's who of the music industry in attendance. Farzana Brownia anchored the programme, directed by Shahidul Alam Sachchu.
The award winners in the critic's choice are: Priyanka Gope for Classical Music (for album “Raga Delights”); Adity Mohsin for Rabindra Sangeet (for album “Momo Rupey Beshe”); Yasmin Mushtari for Nazrul Sangeet (song “Gaanguli Mo'r” in album “Ranga Otithi”); Momtaz for folk music (song “Hotasha” in album “Majhi”); Kanak Chapa for adhunik songs (song “Konodin Ashe Na Jeno” in album “Arale”); Nirbachita as Best debutante (song “Phul Boney Mon Chhilo” in album “Ashbe Na Phirey”); Alauddin Ali for music direction (for song “Shoto Jonomer Swopno” in album “Sonali Gaan”); Robiul Islam Jibon for best lyrics (song “Roud Shoriye” in album “Oyshee Express”); Belal Khan and Konal for Best playback (song “Jotodin Dhore Bachi” in film “Ochena Hridoy”); Plan B for Best cover design (album “Khoma Koro”); Azam Babu for Best sound engineer (album “Jolchhobi”); Shironaamhin for Best band (album “Shironaamhin”) and Tanim Rahman Ongshu for Best music video direction (song “Hariye Phela Bhalobasha” from album “Hariye Phela Bhalobasha”);
The popular choice awards, meanwhile, went to: Fahmida Nabi for adhunik songs (for song “Tumi Obhimane” from album “Tumi Obhimane”); Obscure for Best band (song “Azad” from album “Obscure O Bangladesh”); Jinia Afrin Luipa and Oyshee (jointly) for Best debutante singer (song “Chhayabaji” from album “Chhayabaji” and song “Break Up” from album “Oyshee Express” respectively); Samina Chowdhury for Best playback (song “Gune Gune Ek Dui” from film “Sutopa'r Thikana”).
