Salman Shah: A star that never stops shining

Salman Shah became a legend in the span of three years.

With his very first appearance in the film Keyamot Theke Keyamot (1993), Salman Shah became the talk of the town. After his debut alongside Moushumi, there was no looking back for the young actor. Today marks the death anniversary of Salman Shah, the star that redefined Bangladeshi cinema.

The actor started his career in television. In his debut film, director Sohanur Rahman Sohan introduced the fresh duo of Salman and Moushumi, creating an instant sensation. They became love birds on the silver screen, both ending up with very successful careers.  The duo went on to star together in hits like Sheno (1994) and Den Mohor (1995).

With his charismatic presence, Salman Shah became a fashion icon for youngsters of the era. Even after 2 decades of his demise, he still reoccurs as an example when it comes to discussing 90's fashionistas. Actor Siam Ahmed has gone on record saying that Shah is his inspiration for films.

In his short career spanning only 3 years, the actor worked in over 27 films alongside 11 heroines. His chemistry with Shabnur was exemplary, with the duo first appearing on screen with Tumi Amar (1994), directed by Jahirul Haque. Their celebrated releases include Shah Alam Kiran's Sujon Sokhi (1993), and M A Khalek's Shopner Thikana (1995).

The actor was said to have committed suicide on September 6, 1996 due to family disputes. His film Shotter Mrityu Nei (1996) was released posthumously, and went on to become another blockbuster after it hit theatres.
