Remembering the iconic Jashim on his death anniversary

Among numerous brilliant actors who have garnered the film industry with unparalleled performances, freedom fighter and actor Jashim is a name to be remembered. He brilliantly portrayed both villainous and leading roles on the silver screen. Today marks his 22nd death anniversary.

Debuting with the film Debor back in 1972, Jashim starred in more than 200 films in his illustrious career. His first lead role was in Shobuj Sathi, helmed by renowned director Subhash Dutta.

In 1973, through the film, Rongbaz, Jashim emerged as a powerful silver screen villain. His negative role in Dost Dushman was also a major turning point in his career.

Some of his other notable films include Koshai, Lalu Mastan, Rajababu, Badla, Nishan, Nag Nagini, Nababjada, Kajolrekha, Goriber Ostad and Bhaijan among others.

Jashim's strong portrayal of the common man earned him a place in the hearts of cinemagoers. His pairing with actor Shabana was truly popular.

Considered to be the first action hero of Bangladeshi cinema, Jashim founded the production house, James Fight Group. He was a producer and an action director as well.

Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), named a shooting floor after him, titled, 'Freedom Fighter Jashim Floor'.

To this day, Jashim is remembered as one of the most iconic and inspiring actors in our country. He passed away due to brain haemorrhage in 1998.
