Lt Col Anwar Latif Khan was appointed as Commanding Officer (CO) of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) -11 in Narayanganj today.

Following the dismissal of the three top officials of Rab-11, the post of the CO remained vacant and Khan was appointed as CO of the battalion in the interest of maintaining smooth law and order situation, Sabira Khatun, additional superintendent of police and senior assistant director of Rab media wing, told The Daily Star Online.

On May 6, the authorities concerned dismissed Commanding Officer of Rab-11, Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, and its company commanders Maj Arif Hossain and Lt Commander SM Masud Rana for their alleged involvement in abducting and killing of seven people in Narayanganj in exchange for money.
