Rab releases JU student Boni Amin, hands him to family

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) released Jahangirnagar University student Boni Amin, who was picked up on Tuesday, from their custody and handed him over to his family today.
Mozammel Haque, commander of Rab-4, confirmed the development to The Daily Star this afternoon.
He said, "We have handed Boni Amin over to his family members. We brought him just for interrogation, to know about some issues. We didn't find anything crucial."
When asked, JU acting Proctor ASM Firoz-ul-Hasan said, "We also spoke to Rab authorities. We have been observing the matter since the beginning and have been in contact with police and the Rab. Primarily, we were not informed on his (Boni Amin) whereabouts. Finally, Rab-4 confirmed to us and handed him."
Boni Amin's father Abdul Jalil said, "We were called by Rab-4. They interrogated me about my son. After maintaining some formalities, they handed him to us. We are returning home now."
Hailing from Ullapara of Sirajganj, Boni used to stay at a mess in Gerua area adjacent to JU campus due to Covid-19 pandemic. He is a second-year student of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department and resident of Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore Hall of the University.
