Bangla Academy to host ‘Pohela Boishakh Mela’ from tomorrow

On the occasion of Bengali New Year, a 10-day long Boisakhi Mela will start from tomorrow at the premises of Bangla Academy. The fair is organised by Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), and Bangla Academy.
Industrial minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun will inaugurate the fair, tomorrow at 11 am. Director General of Bangla Academy and acclaimed poet Muhammad Nurul Huda will preside over the function.
Md Mahbubor Rahman, Chairman, BSCIC, will deliver the welcome address at the opening ceremony.
Special guests including the likes of State minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid, Secretary to Ministry of Industry, Zakia Sultana and Secretary to Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md Abul Mansur will grace the occasion with their presence.
At 8 am, at the Rabindra Chattar of the academy, a musical programme welcoming the new year, speeches, and poem recitation programme will also held.
A special speech will be given by researcher and playwright, Dr Simon Zakaria. President of Bangla Academy and eminent novelist Selina Hossain will be presiding over the programme.
