Rapper Hannan Hossain Shimul, who recently released his rap about the quota reform movement, was arrested on July 25 by police officers. He was subsequently held on a two-day remand.
As the release date comes closer, director Dhrubo Hasan has recently dropped the first song of the film. The film’s first song was released yesterday.
Chirkutt's Sharmin Sultana Sumi has gained recognition in the international music scene, promoting Bangladeshi culture and music on global platforms.
The song, titled “Jochonar Phool”, is written by Chirkutt frontline Sharmin Sultana Sumi and she jointly tuned and composed it with the songwriter and Chirkutt member Pavel Areen. The latter also produced the song. Mostofa Sarwar Farooki himself released the song on Wednesday through his Facebook profile.
Previously, the audience were mesmerised by Chirkutt’s “Kanamachi”, featured in the film, “Television”; “Duniya” featured in “Aynabaji”; “Ahare Jibon” from “Doob”, and “Boye Jao Nokkhotro” from “Beauty Circus”.
20 years ago, Sharmin Sultana Sumi came to Dhaka from Khulna with very few things to her name. During her time in Dhaka University, the vocalist, along with some talented musicians, would form Chirkutt.
