He is a rickshaw-puller in a small northern village of Bangladesh. For Babu Islam, each day goes by in an effort to earn enough to run his family of four, all of whom live in a small tin-shed house in Domar upazila of Nilphamari.

Twenty-eight-year-old Babu Islam also happens to be a football fanatic. An ardent supporter of Argentina, Babu somehow had to showcase his love, so he borrowed a whopping Tk 20,000 to paint his small house in the colours of his favourite football team -- white and blue.

With World Cup fever at its highest, a majority of fans all over Bangladesh are split into two camps -- Brazil and Argentina. Babu's hometown of Domar upazila is no different. Homes all around have hung up flags of their favourite teams. Lively debates over tea or dinner programmes have become the norm in Babu's hometown.

When asked how he would repay all this money, Babu said he would repay it from the money he earns by driving a rickshaw. This may result in a shortcoming in meeting the needs of his family, especially their two children, but such is his passion for Argentina that he thought it a sacrifice worth making.

Babu is one among hundreds of Bangladeshi supporters who have loaned money making drastic shows of affection. No one in Argentina will probably ever know about Babu's story but that does not deter fans in Bangladesh -- fighting, debating, supporting their favourite teams as yet another World Cup takes center stage.
