Fishing is the main source of livelihood for at least 60 families in Nayakandi village of Arua union in Shivalay, Manikganj.

However, many families have left this profession recently and started looking for alternative sources of income.

The fishermen complain that they are trying to change their profession after being fed up with the extortion of the Naval Police. However, Naval Police has denied this allegation.
